Moving out of Piccadilly Point is easier to organise when you separate two journeys: where your belongings are going and how you are travelling yourself. They may have the same destination, but they do not have to leave together.
Unite Students lists Piccadilly Point at 23 Berry Street, Manchester, M1 2AD. Use the full property name and address when requesting a collection. “Near Piccadilly” is not precise enough for a booking, especially when the mover also needs your flat, floor and building instructions.
Confirm the final day of your booking
Check the end date in your own accommodation account or agreement. Your last exam, a housemate’s departure and the end of teaching are not substitutes for the date you have booked the room until.
Unite’s current checkout guidance says your room and kitchen must be clean and empty before 10am on the final tenancy day. Check the property’s messages for your arrangements and ask the team promptly if you foresee a problem. Do not treat an afternoon van booking as permission to stay beyond checkout.
Work backwards from that deadline. Allow for carrying the belongings out, checking storage spaces, clearing your part of the kitchen and returning keys as instructed. If your travel plans make the final morning difficult, consider arranging transport for an earlier day you are permitted to use.
Make a Berry Street collection brief
Ask the property team how collections should work. A nearby road, station or car park does not automatically provide a permitted loading point. The useful answer is the current instruction for your building, including any arrangements for a van and the route from your room.
| Tell the mover | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Piccadilly Point, 23 Berry Street, M1 2AD | Identifies the correct residence |
| Flat, floor and room | Describes where the load starts |
| Confirmed building instructions | Allows collection to be planned within the rules |
| Box count and photographs | Makes the size of the load clearer |
| Delivery address and access time | Prevents a journey to a destination that is not ready |
Ask about lift use if you will need it, but do not assume exclusive access or a reserved slot. Leave shared routes clear, and agree where you should meet the mover rather than carrying boxes into a communal entrance without permission.
Pack the room you have actually occupied
Piccadilly Point offers both ensuite rooms with shared kitchens and studios. Your packing list should reflect your own accommodation. In a shared flat, identify your food, pans and utensils before somebody else packs them. In a studio, check every cupboard rather than concentrating on the visible belongings around the bed.
Keep supplied furniture and appliances on the accommodation inventory. Only include items you own in the moving load. If you bought a chair, shelving unit or other larger item during the year, send its dimensions and a photograph with the quote request.
Number the containers and keep a simple note of what is in each. Make a separate “travel with me” bag for documents, keys, medicines, chargers and anything needed during the next day. Once the main load has left, that bag should still be within reach.
