Moving out of Oxford Court is easier when the room move and the shared-flat handover are organised separately. You need your own belongings packed for collection, but you also need to know which kitchen items are yours, what is staying and how you will complete checkout.
This guide is for Oxford Court in Hulme, Manchester. Use the full hall name and your room details when asking for a quote; a familiar accommodation name on its own may not identify the correct entrance.
Check the collection address and your flat
Manchester Met’s Oxford Court page identifies the accommodation at 23 Stretford Road, Hulme, Manchester M15 6DD and describes furnished shared flats. Add your block, flat, room and floor to the moving enquiry.
Ask reception where a moving vehicle should meet you and whether anything needs arranging in advance. Confirm the entrance rather than assuming a general address is a loading point. Tell the mover about stairs, any agreed lift access and the carrying route from your room.
Our Manchester Met removals guide explains the wider campus moving process.
Keep the key handover in your schedule
MMU’s Oxford Court resident information describes room access using a fob and key. Keep the access items you were issued available until the move and checkout are complete, and follow the return instructions given for your booking.
Read your own contract and departure email to establish the final date and time. Book collection with room for the last check afterwards. The end of an exam or a housemate’s departure does not tell you the deadline for your room.
If you plan to leave earlier, tell the accommodation team and ask what process applies. A mover can transport your belongings, but the room handover and any questions about the agreement remain matters to settle with the provider.
Sort possessions by ownership and destination
Before putting anything into a box, decide whether it belongs to you, the hall or a flatmate. Leave supplied furniture and equipment behind. Agree who takes anything bought jointly so it does not become an argument when the van is waiting.
| Group | How to label it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Going to your next bedroom | Your name and “new room” | The room is accessible on delivery day. |
| Going home | Your name and the home destination | Someone will be there to receive it. |
| Going into storage | Your name and a numbered inventory | The facility accepts the items and is ready for arrival. |
| Staying in the flat | Keep separate from the collection | Ownership and placement are agreed. |
If everything has one destination, keep the system simple. Numbered boxes with a short contents list are enough. The aim is to prevent missing items and mistaken loading, not create extra administration.
