When booking a move from Cavendish halls, use the full hall name and the address in your resident information. Nearby campus names can be confusing, and current building work makes it sensible to confirm the approach before a moving vehicle arrives.
Cavendish is included in Manchester Met’s current halls directory. It should not be confused with Cambridge Halls, which is undergoing redevelopment. Your collection plan needs to reflect your occupied building and its current access arrangements.
Check the approach around the redevelopment
MMU’s Cambridge Halls project page says the former halls closed in late 2025 and describes a closure of the section of Cavendish Street through the construction site. It gives September 2030 as the expected reopening. Check the current project information and reception advice before your moving date rather than relying on an old campus map.
This does not establish the loading arrangements for Cavendish Hall. Ask the accommodation team which entrance to use, where a vehicle may stop and whether any permission or advance coordination is needed. Send the answer to the mover with your booking details.
Our Manchester Metropolitan University moving guide covers the information to collect for a campus-area move.
Start with the date you actually need to leave
Read your agreement and the checkout information sent for your room. A university exam date is not a room handover deadline, and another resident may have different arrangements. Ask the team to resolve any uncertainty before you commit to transport.
Choose a collection that leaves enough time to finish the departure afterwards. You may need to clean the final area under your boxes, inspect cupboards and complete the key return. Keep those tasks separate from the time the driver is due.
Write an inventory for your part of the flat
A shared kitchen makes it surprisingly easy to forget possessions or take the wrong items. Before packing, separate your things from accommodation equipment and belongings owned by flatmates. Agree what happens to anything bought jointly.
List the number of boxes, bags and suitcases, then add each larger item. A monitor, bicycle or self-assembled shelf should be named individually. Leave supplied furniture in place, and check the hall inventory if ownership is unclear.
| Area to check | Moving task |
|---|---|
| Bedroom | Count personal belongings and identify any furniture you brought. |
| Kitchen cupboards | Separate your cookware, food containers and appliances. |
| Fridge and freezer | Plan food use or disposal before moving day. |
| Bathroom and laundry | Collect toiletries, towels and anything still drying. |
| Shared equipment | Agree ownership before putting it on the van. |
