A move from Archway works best when the person collecting your belongings understands the route from your room to the van. The postcode is only the beginning: your floor, building access, inventory and checkout time help determine what the move involves.
Archway is listed in Manchester Met’s current accommodation directory. This guide focuses on leaving your room and arranging transport; the university’s own instructions remain the source for your building’s checkout arrangements.
Confirm the building and room details
MMU identifies Archway at 20 Bonsall Street, Manchester M15 6HJ in its official contact information. Add your flat, room and floor when asking about collection, and ask reception which entrance should be used for a move.
Do not assume that the accommodation office address is also a vehicle loading point. Confirm the current arrangement locally and pass any relevant instructions to your mover. Keep one contact available to meet the driver and deal with questions on the day.
For other buildings around the university, see our Manchester Met removals guide.
Plan the route through the building
Manchester Met’s halls safety guidance includes Archway in its information about taller residential buildings. Keep escape routes clear and do not interfere with fire doors while moving belongings.
Ask reception whether a lift can be used for your collection and whether any arrangements are required. Establish the route before bringing boxes into a communal area. Your mover needs to know about steps, a long carry or other features that affect loading, without relying on assumptions about the building.
| Check with reception | Tell your mover |
|---|---|
| Which entrance to use | The confirmed meeting point and a contact number. |
| Where a moving vehicle may stop | The loading instructions, including any time restrictions. |
| Arrangements for lifts, if relevant | Your floor and the confirmed way belongings will be moved. |
| When checkout must be complete | The deadline, allowing time after collection for your handover. |
Make a room inventory that includes the hidden items
Count the possessions you are taking, not the furniture supplied with the room. List packed boxes, suitcases, bedding bags, a monitor or television, and any chair or shelving you bought yourself. Measure anything bulky.
Check the bathroom, kitchen cupboards and freezer as well as the bedroom. A quote based on four boxes will not describe the same job if you later add a bicycle, several bags and two appliances. Update the inventory before the collection date.
When you are ready, use our student moving service to request a quote covering the actual load and both addresses.
