At Denmark Road, checking the agreement you actually signed is more useful than copying a moving date from another resident. A building name does not tell a mover when your room must be empty or when your next place becomes available.
Once those times are clear, the practical plan is straightforward: identify your load, confirm access and arrange transport to a destination that is ready. Our University of Manchester student removals guide provides the broader moving checklist.
Check how you booked the room
The University of Manchester’s Denmark Road profile explains that it leases rooms from Sanctuary. Sanctuary’s own Denmark Road page also advertises accommodation arrangements. Use your own booking documents to establish the provider, agreement and departure instructions that apply.
Do not use an advertised agreement length to calculate a leaving date yourself. Read the actual end date and ask your accommodation contact to confirm anything unclear. Keep the checkout time and key-return process with that information.
Send the mover the date you have confirmed, not a screenshot of an unrelated room offer. This also matters if you are moving with a friend: each resident should check their own arrangement before a shared booking is made.
Build the handover around two addresses
Check when you can obtain the keys to the destination. If somebody else is receiving the load, confirm their availability and the place where belongings should be put. Include the destination floor and access route in the quote request.
A departure deadline and a new tenancy start date are not necessarily a workable moving window by themselves. Add the practical times: key collection, loading, travel, unloading and returning the old key. Leave enough room to finish the old room properly.
| Question | Where to get the answer |
|---|---|
| When must I leave? | Your signed agreement and current departure instructions. |
| Who handles my checkout? | The accommodation contact named in your booking. |
| Where can the van collect? | The residence’s current loading and access instructions. |
| When can I enter the next room? | The next provider, landlord or authorised keyholder. |
| What needs transporting? | Your completed inventory, including larger items. |
| What if the dates do not meet? | A confirmed home, storage or other authorised arrangement. |
Give the mover room-level details
Include the flat, room and floor, and explain the route from your room to the permitted stopping point. Ask the residence about any arrangements needed for moving belongings, such as access doors or use of a lift. Availability of a lift does not automatically mean it can be reserved for your collection.
Send current instructions to the mover before the day, including who to call on arrival. Keep your phone charged and available. If another resident is joining the booking, provide their room location too rather than describing the load as a single pickup.
Our student man and van service can be quoted with this information. Ask what is included in the price and tell us if you need carrying assistance, extra stops or help with a specific bulky item.
