A move from Needham Court may look small until you count the belongings outside your bedroom. Kitchen equipment, bathroom items, laundry and a bicycle can change the size of the load. Start by listing everything you own and deciding where each item is going.
Manchester Met’s current accommodation directory lists Needham Court as shared flats with en-suite bedrooms. For a moving quote, describe your possessions and room access rather than using “one student room” as the whole inventory.
Gather the room and checkout details
Find your exact address, block or flat details, room number and floor in your accommodation information. Ask reception which entrance and loading arrangement should be used. Give the mover those details with your proposed date.
Check the deadline in your own agreement and departure email. If you cannot find the correct contact or are unsure about the instructions, use MMU’s accommodation contact information to reach Student Living. Do not select a moving date solely from your last class or exam.
The wider Manchester Met moving guide provides context for arranging a collection around the university.
Build the inventory in four passes
Working area by area is more reliable than estimating everything from the bedroom door. You can use the table below as a simple packing list, adding the actual quantities beside each row.
| Pass | Include | Useful detail for a quote |
|---|---|---|
| Bedroom | Clothes, bedding, books, decorations and personal furniture. | Number of packed boxes and bags; dimensions of larger items. |
| Desk | Monitor, speakers, printer and other equipment. | Any fragile or awkward items and their packaging. |
| Bathroom and laundry | Toiletries, towels, cleaning items and drying clothes. | Anything that must stay accessible until the last morning. |
| Shared spaces | Your kitchenware, appliances and other belongings. | Ownership agreed and items ready for collection. |
Leave furniture supplied by the hall out of the load. If a desk lamp or appliance was already present when you arrived, check the accommodation inventory before assuming it is yours to take.
Pack expensive and fragile equipment deliberately
Use original packaging for screens or equipment where you still have it, or suitable protective materials if you do not. Remove loose accessories, keep cables together and label them so you can set up again without opening every box.
Photograph how complicated connections fit before disconnecting them. Back up important work before moving a computer, and keep essential devices with you where practical. Discuss any unusually valuable item and the relevant transport protection with the mover in advance.
Smaller boxes are usually more manageable for books and heavier kitchen items. Do not force a single overfilled carton shut when two sound boxes would be easier to handle. Tape the base and write the contents category on more than one side.
