Moving Out of Richmond Park, Manchester

Willow Court or Poplar Court? Start with your exact room and leaving date, then organise the boxes, collection and next address.

Moving out of Richmond Park is easier when you answer three questions before touching a cardboard box: which court are you leaving, when must the room be empty, and where can your belongings go next? A parent collecting you, a shared van and a trip into storage all need the same basic information.

This guide is for Richmond Park halls in Fallowfield, Manchester. If you are comparing transport options, our University of Manchester student removals guide explains how the wider move fits together.

Check Willow Court and Poplar Court separately

The university’s 2026/27 licence dates list Willow Court ending on 2 July 2027 and Poplar Court on 3 July 2027. Your own agreement and departure instructions determine your arrangements, including the time you need to leave.

Put the date in a shared note with whoever is helping. Include the court, block, flat and room, plus a mobile number that will be answered on moving day. A screenshot of a map pin can help a driver find the site, but it does not replace instructions about the permitted loading entrance.

Choose the next stop before choosing the van

A direct trip to your next house is usually the simplest plan if you can collect its keys in time. Ask when access actually begins: an agreement starting that day does not automatically mean someone will meet you at breakfast. Leave room in the timetable for handover, travel and unloading.

If you are returning to the family home, check what can come back with you. Parents may happily take the clothes and laptop but have no space for a desk chair, shelving unit or exercise equipment. Our moving home from university guide helps you decide what travels together and what needs a separate arrangement.

For a gap between addresses, reserve suitable storage before arranging collection. With Frank’s student storage moves, you book the storage space and we quote for transporting your belongings. Check the unit’s access hours, identification requirements and any restrictions on what it accepts.

InformationWhat to write down
Exact pickupCourt, block, flat, room and floor.
Departure deadlineThe date and time confirmed for your agreement.
Loading arrangementThe entrance and stopping location approved by the residence.
Your loadBoxes, suitcases and each item that will not pack into either.
Destination accessFull address, floor, keys and a contact person.
Separate essentialsMedication, documents, phone, charger and a change of clothes.

Send this information when asking about a student man and van booking. A few clear photographs of your packed belongings are more useful than describing everything as “just a small room”. Include the bike, monitor, laundry basket and anything borrowed that must go to another address.

Check access again near the moving date

Fallowfield is undergoing a university campus redevelopment. Ask reception what this means for your particular collection. A route remembered from September, or an old online photograph of a car park, is not enough to establish where a van may stop now.

Ask whether a vehicle registration is needed, whether there is a collection window and who the driver should contact on arrival. Check whether belongings can be carried through the entrance you intend to use. Do not move boxes into corridors or leave them outside while waiting for transport.

Pack the shared-flat bits deliberately

Start with a short conversation about ownership. Which pans, drying racks and cleaning supplies are yours? Did everyone contribute towards the same toaster? Agree what happens to shared purchases before the last person is left with them.

Pack heavy items into manageable boxes, protect glass separately and tape the bottom of each box securely. Label both the owner and destination room. If you are dividing the load between home and storage, add those words prominently on two sides. Keep food and liquids out of boxes containing books or electronics.

Make your final bag the one you carry yourself. Put your keys, valuables and departure paperwork in it, rather than in a box that could be loaded first. Keep enough cleaning supplies available to deal with the space revealed when furniture or bags are moved.

Leave time after the last box

A sensible collection time leaves a buffer before your departure deadline. You still need to check cupboards, take dated photographs of the empty room and complete the required key handover. Read the university’s moving-out instructions alongside your own departure email.

Give your driver any updated access information before the day. Once the destination, load and timing are agreed, the job becomes straightforward: collect your belongings, check the room and get you ready for the next place.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few useful answers.

Can Willow Court and Poplar Court have different leaving dates?

Yes. The university lists separate 2026/27 end dates for the two courts. Check your own agreement and departure email for the applicable date and checkout time before booking transport.

Can I book a van with another Richmond Park resident?

You can ask for a quote covering a shared load. Give both room locations, the combined inventory and every destination. Agree who is organising the booking and how you will divide the quoted cost.

What if my next house is not ready?

Arrange storage or another confirmed place for your belongings before collection. Frank’s can quote for the transport into a storage unit you have booked; confirm access at the unit before agreeing the move.

How early should my belongings be ready?

Aim to finish packing before the agreed collection time, with labels and the inventory checked. Leave a separate buffer after loading for cleaning, photographs and the residence’s key-return process.

Can the van use the same entrance as it did in September?

Confirm the current departure arrangements with reception. Arrival instructions and previous visits do not establish where a collection vehicle may stop on your leaving date.
