Academy Apartments Across the Road

UA92's halls are Academy Apartments, directly opposite the main campus and exclusive to UA92 students. Room costs include heating, electricity, Wi-Fi and the on-site laundry, and you can only register your interest once you have firmly accepted your offer. White goods are already in the apartment, and UA92 sends a list of what you need, along with the rules and contract, before you move in.

So the first move in is mostly bags, bedding and kitchen kit rather than furniture, and usually a single student man and van load. Parking on campus is only for visitors with a Blue Badge, so the van and any family car stop on the street.

Induction Weeks Through the Year

UA92 teaches in six week blocks, and new Level 4 students have an induction week before almost every one. After September, the 2026/27 induction weeks start on 2 November 2026, 11 January 2027, 1 March 2027 and 19 April 2027.

A UA92 move can land in November or January as easily as September. Book once your start block is confirmed.

Event Days in Trafford

Around Old Trafford, Trafford Council runs permit schemes marked "Past This Point": signs at every way into the area mark it as permit holders only, and they show the dates and times of the next restricted event. The restrictions apply for events at both Old Trafford and Emirates Old Trafford. In December 2025 the council said its officers would issue fines more regularly, and that drivers breaking the rules could almost certainly expect a £70 fine.

The council lists upcoming restricted dates on its website; for a Sunday afternoon match on 25 October 2026, for example, the restriction runs from 12pm to 4:45pm. A move booked into that window is a move done twice, so we check the fixture list and the signs before we fix the day. The schemes are explained on Trafford's event-day permit page.

Teaching Inside the Stadium

Since January 2026 UA92 has used suites in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand at Old Trafford as teaching space. On Manchester United home game days it has no access to those rooms, and teaching moves to other UA92 locations or online.

For a move, the useful part is the warning built into the arrangement: match days shut parts of the area down. If the university plans around them, the van should too.

The Old Trafford Regeneration

The Old Trafford Regeneration Mayoral Development Corporation came into force on 23 January 2026. Trafford Council describes it as catalysed by a new 100,000 seat stadium for Manchester United, and says the 370 acre regeneration area will eventually see 15,000 new homes and 48,000 new jobs locally. A draft masterplan for Trafford Wharfside, covering 150 hectares, was published in July 2026 and its consultation has closed.

Nothing has been built yet. When work starts, the roads around Wharfside and the stadium will change, and we will check the route in the week of each move rather than relying on last year's. The council set out the plans in its development corporation announcement.

What a UA92 Move Costs

One mover with a large van starts from £45/hour and two movers from £50/hour. A room at Academy Apartments is usually one van load, and a move out to a house share in Stretford or across the city is priced on the same basis.
